MTK@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When facing a terrible and unchangeable truth, is drug use still a bad idea?31·4 days agoThat doesn’t really mean anything in the context of this post.
It’s not about happiness

It might sound arrogant, but I think I’m a good person. I always work towards being better, I work on myself and my environment. I think this is what is eating me up about it. The idea that even though I am doing good and always working to improve, this is just something that is out of my control but also directly affects me.
I accept that this is the world, it is fucked up but it also has all of tgese amazing things in it. Heck, I don’t even think the world had my bad than good in it, but I still can’t handle the bad parts. Weed helps me handle it so that I can continue to do the important things such as working on myself. For example, on a really depressive day I might end up staying in bed for the first 4 hours, while with weed I might get up and clean and shift my mood towards a more hopeful one

MTK@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When facing a terrible and unchangeable truth, is drug use still a bad idea?1·4 days agoDo you think that addiction is inevitable? Is it impossible to use drugs as a form of emotional pain management while keeping an eye on any possible addictions?
MTK@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When facing a terrible and unchangeable truth, is drug use still a bad idea?3·4 days agoBut what if nothing helps the situation?
Your approach is great, but if I did the SIP and now I’m stuck. I can’t fix the issue and my ways of making sure it can’t hurt me as much would mean sacrificing too much. So I can’t really do the DE part and I am stuck knowing that I either continue to let it hurt me or I do something that would hurt me in other ways. This is a no-win-situation.
So now I’m essentially treating symptoms, weed helps with that.

Hard to say how bad it is, all I can say is that it is really bad for me. I feel like some days I just can’t ignore it and it makes me hate the world and everyone in it. Which I know is wrong and I don’t truly hate the world or the people in it.
MTK@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When facing a terrible and unchangeable truth, is drug use still a bad idea?81·4 days agoIsn’t that a bit too broad? We use drugs for so many things in life. People use coffee to get through the day. And yeah it’s not healthy but my point is that there is a spectrum, I don’t think it is a black and white situation.
As for feeling feelings, I believe that we should give our feelings the time and thought needed to properly process them, and I do it. But somethings you are done processing, you accepted the truth and you felt what needed to be felt, but it’s still hard, and as long as this situation is unresolved it will continue to be hard.
Imagine being smarter than everyone around you, constantly speaking like you are explaining to a child. You can never truly be angry at people because how could they know any better?
That is how people who think they have a high IQ think, those who actually have it are probably mostly successful academics who are actually pushing humanity forward and are probably not assholes about it because for someone to truly and deeply understand a complex subject they must not only be smart, but also dedicate significant time and effort into learning.
I always found Tony Stark to be a funny character. He is basically the embodiment of what stupid people who they are smart want to be. Like that scene where he figures out time travel in a single night because he is so smart, but of course even an infinitely intelligent being would still need a few weeks of reading just to catch of on the knowledge needed to even understand quantum mechanics properly.
Scientifically speaking, the pros outweigh the cons everytime.
Public Safety should not be done with the assumption that the public is made up of stupid children that would kill themselves at every possible opportunity (though some people are like that) rather it should come with the assumption that adults are smart enough and have the right to make decisions about them selves.
The government should work towards education so that the public can be better informed and only restrict extreme situations where a reasonable mistake can lead to unreasonable consequences or harm to others. And “Gateway drugs” is as stupid as saying that teaching people how to use a knife would lead them to seek out sharper and bigger knives until they stab themselves and die.
MTK@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it fetishization for someone to find X ethnicity more attractive than every other ethnicity?101·6 days agoI think part of the problem is the use of terms that are so broad that it becomes racist.
Let’s say you are an american with irish roots. You are “white” but you are not the same “white” as an american with Finnish roots. If you were to say that you are attracted to black women, what does that mean? Does it mean you are attracted to dark skin? How dark? South sudan dark or namibia dark? Are you talking about facial features? Body shapes?
Point is, saying that you are attracted to black women is a sign that what you actually mean is that you have an idea in your head of what features “black” women have and then assuming that it is true for all black women, which is racist.
Guess what, most if not all veggies and vegans are also doing something morally dubious at best.
Care to elaborate? Like are you saying that there is something inherently wrong about veganism or are you saying that vegans are not perfect people and also commit bad acts?
If it’s the first, you need some serious evidence and explanations since scientifically it is established that veganism is healthier, better for the environment, produces more calories per land, water and energy usage, and of course, the animals get to live free of torture.
If it’s the second option, well yeah, no one is perfect. We should all do our best to improve, I wasn’t born a vegan but once I understood what I was doing I stopped it, and it was hard and I had some fallbacks, but eventually I got used to it and had no issues. This is not just about veganism, there are many things in my life that at somepoint I came to understand that they were wrong, and I changed myself to be better. People can do both good and bad things, but if they are aware of the bad stuff and choose to ignore it, that’s when they become bad people.
A simple example from my past is that when I was younger (kid to teen) I thought “nig&er” was just a word for a black person, it was only when a black person explained it to me that I understood the historical and cultural significance of it. Does the fact that I said nig&er made me a bad person? I don’t think so, but if I ignored what I had learned and continued? Yeah, I think that would have been bad.
Thank you, I hope things get better for you
