I’m getting back into using Firefox mainly because of multi account containers. Basically I can open the same website logged in to different accounts by making it into it’s kind of a sandboxy thing. That’s the main draw at least.

Multi-Account Containers is an extension developed by Mozilla that allows you to separate your browsing experience into different color-coded tabs, to help protect your privacy. By using these containers, you can categorize their browsing based on purpose and create tabs for Work, Banking, Shopping and Personal browsing. For an extra layer of privacy, you can also integrate Mozilla VPN.
Not sure if I want to just follow the default ones and make a few more generalized containers, or make it semi-specialized like having only one container just for Xitter for example.

I have a Google container and a Facebook container to somewhat segment those accounts from everything else (obviously they’re both sophisticated enough that it doesn’t limit tracking much. But it’s something).
It does make Google login a bit awkward if I try to log in from a nom-google container though unfortunately. I usually have to reopen in the Google one.
And I have one for my work accounts when I need to check work email from my personal PC. I don’t want to accidentally log in to that account casually.
It’s incredibly useful and I wouldnt be able to work without it anymore. I used to log into one account in firefox and into the other one in chromium, it was silly
That’s true. I did that for years when I stopped using Firefox even after using containers a bit. Forgot why I stopped before. Now I’m glad to be back on Firefox, and especially for containers.
I did not stray much from the default setup as I rarely need more than one container, especially at work. I did set some rules like opening YouTube and
inbox.google.com(which redirects to GMail) in the Personal one.I also installed the very handy Easy Container Shortcuts for opening new containers with keyboard shortcuts, as well as Facebook Container in an attempt to limit Meta’s tracking[1].

I use them extensively for Google and 365 admin centers for different accounts. I need to log onto several daily.

Yes! That’s what I do. I tried the container thing and actually just couldn’t figure it out - so I learned about profiles. I like on Linux using shortcuts to make multiple Firefox icons for my 2 profiles.
I have specific containers for work, banking, google domains, and youtube. I also have twitter and tiktok containers in case I need to open one of their links and isolate them. Oh and the separate facebook container extension.
Having said that, I believe FF now prevents cross-site tracking, so technically containers may no longer be needed. I just continue to use them for peace of mind.
Yeah, already have their facebook container. But I believe they already have the function to allow a container to only open the sites I assign it to. So like their Facebook container, any links I click not of the sites it’ll just open in no container.
The cross site tracking is the lower of my concerns practically. It’s signing in to my multiple Google accounts without having to change accounts is my main goal.
I use it in a similar way, it’s very handy to have separate containers when you use multiple logins for a website. I’m often switching between them or using those sessions simultaneously, and constantly logging out/in and getting MFA prompts gets old.

I have couple tens of different accounts for Azure due to work stuff, so having a multi-account container for each is the only way to manage that pain
I use containers for work stuff so I don’t have to deal with edge cases of mixing accounts.
I also put Proton in a container to hopefully reduce the odds of any kind of cross site scripting exploits from succeeding… But that base should already be well covered by proton servers and the normal protection mechanisms.
Multiple logins to some sites, be that for a personal and a business instagram for example. SAme for shopping sites, Amazon with my company login and one with my personal. Container bookmarks makes this nice and simple to manage and get directly to where you want to be, as who you want to be.

To login on different accounts I just make a private tab. Never tried the multi account thing you’re talking about.

Firefox with 138 added proper profile support, it’s being rolled out slowly, they said by end of may everyone should have it.
What does this mean? How does it differ from containers?

A different profile may make sense if you like multiple sets of browser settings, bookmarks, and extensions separate from one another.
A container may be better if you prefer the same settings, bookmarks, extensions, but a different set of cache and cookies on a specific site.
